PHOTO TIPS + SUBMISSION

Place your subject in front of a well-lit area with a solid background, facing right or left. Typically, relaxed expressions with the chin up and mouth closed work best and capture features more realistically.

If your subject has long hair (below the shoulder), pull it up. Ponytails and messy buns make for adorable silhouettes and allow you to see the definition of the neck.

And remember to take the images at eye-level. A good rule of thumb is to envision you are capturing an image of your subjects ear.

Images taken with your phone are great — just make sure you capture them in good lighting.
